The cards Andy holds represent the mathematical talents (which include adding large numbers in his head and playing pinochle) of this enthusiastic kindergartener. Courtney, who is both loving and tolerant of her adoring brother, is recorded in her preferred hip-pocket stance. I was struck by her sparkling eyes and soft, open smile.

Abstracted furniture of the background references the children's living room where the paintings are hung 10 feet apart to allow their gazes to meet.
