The focussed attention and quiet that these sisters are enjoying during seemingly endless hours of childhood play were the motivation for this painting. Piecing together two snapshots, as well as eliminating or altering distracting elements, I was able to establish a compositional structure through which the pastel color palette could express a kind of day-dream time.
